In keeping with the memory of Bob, please join us on his birthday, for the third annual golf fundraiser for the Robert K. Dempski Cord Blood Research Fund. A fundraising event for cord blood research at the University of Kansas Cancer Center. KU Cancer Center is the 87th center designated by the National Cancer Institute, joining such established names in cancer research and treatment as MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan-Kettering. The NCI coordinates the U.S. National Cancer Program and conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other activities related to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer; the supportive care of cancer patients and their families; and cancer survivorship.
Last year’s tournament raised over $15,000, propelling the fund to over $45,000. These funds are being used to fund a new clinical trial that has begun with
the brilliant Dr. Omar Aljitawi, an oncologist and researcher with the KU Cancer Center. The first patient has been enrolled in the trial and we are
hopeful for positive results. The Robert K. Dempski Cord Blood Research Fund is credited at all presentations on this research. Dr. Aljitawi was one of
Bob's physicians at KUMC, and will be giving a heart moving presentation on his research at the luncheon following the golf tournament. We are hopeful that
the patient involved in this exciting clinical trial will also be available to share his experience with us.
We hope you will join us in giving, as a player and/or sponsor in being part of the cure. For more information, please contact Bob Fessler at 913.208.9831 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
